December Board Update

Dec 19, 2015 in Get Involved by Heather

Visioning Day: Thank you so much to everyone who participated in our congregational visioning session on November 17th. Kim Uyede-Kai from Hamilton Conference led us through a series of exercises that helped us reflect on the future of our ministries and our congregation as we live them out through our building and our location. Lots of wonderful ideas and insights were shared – and lots of laughter too!

The notes from our session were shared with the board, and at our board meeting this month we began a process (facilitated by Kellie) that will help us to consider your inputs as well as the discussions the board has been undertaking, to put together a specific action plan. We will continue this process at our January meeting, which we will be dedicating to our visioning conversation. I look forward to sharing more with you after our January meeting!

Capital Campaign: To-date, our fundraising activities have raised a total of  $54,180. Thank you for your generous contributions!! We have work to do to reach our $100,000 goal by the annual meeting in 2016 – and there are projects still to do (most notably the stone work on the exterior of Hilliard Hall). As you are preparing your Christmas givings this year, please prayerfully consider whether you might be able to contribute further to our capital campaign.

We have received a total of $42,097 in grant funding this year, which has been used to replace the floor in Hilliard Hall and to make our William St entrance an accessible doorway. These exciting improvements wouldn’t have been possible without the work of a few committed individuals in our congregation who applied for the grants and ensured the work was done to comply with the grant requirements. Thank you!

Annual General Meeting: The board have set the following dates for our Annual General Meeting for 2016: February 21st: Information Session and February 28th: AGM. We look forward to a great discussion and lots of exciting updates at the meeting!

New Website: A huge thank you to everyone who helped to get the new site ready! One of the most important requirements of our new site was that it would allow multiple people in the congregation to easily add content to the website. As a result, our website will be a living site, with regular updates and new additions. I would welcome your feedback and suggestions on additions or changes to the site – and please check it regularly for new updates!

I wish you a blessed and peaceful Christmas season!
