Spirit of Reconciliation

June 05, 2017

In a bit of a departure, this is the full sermon from Sunday, June 4th, 2017 so runs about three times as long as the condensed versions that we usually post. It’s well worth watching though!

On this, Pentecost Sunday, the congregations of Emmanuel, First, Parkminster and Westminster United churches gathered to hear guest minister Rev. Maggie McLeod speak about reconciliation and the Holy Spirit.

In considering the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's investigation of the Residential School legacy, Rev. McLeod asks, "What do we do with the powerful gift of the Holy Spirit?". As an ordained minister, a Cree and a self-described "Intergenerational Survivor", she brings a unique perspective to the influence of the Holy Spirit as an agent of healing to the violence, suffering, struggle and, ultimately, hope of Canada's Indigenous Peoples.

As always, thanks for tuning in.
