Blessing Box
The “Blessing Box” is a box of non-perishable food and other items that people using our Fridays at First program can use to supplement their food at home.  It is very well liked and we find that our guests are both receiving and having an opportunity to give back to their neighbours at the same time. A bin is placed in the Narthex to receive your donations.

Holiday Meal   Our 24th annual Holiday Meal was another wonderful success thanks to all of you who called, donated and came out to help. We served over 100 guests as well as our countless volunteers and there was still enough left over to feed another 50 on Friday.
We serve such a variety of people! We had people for whom this was the only Christmas meal they were planning on having, and those who follow the community meals throughout December and this was the last of many for them. We had people who came for the food, people who came to meet friends, and people who were looking for friendship. We had people who come most years, and we had people for whom this was the first time.
Those who were here made to feel very welcome and blessed, thanks to all the volunteers we had.
Special thanks to Rob Brady of Brady’s Meats for donating all the hams. This is such a blessing to us! Also, thanks to the crew that pulls everything together, Darcie Burrell for organizing in advance and leading on the day, Cheryl Burrell who plans and takes charge of the cooking, Eric and Kathy Saunders who do all the shopping and procurement, and Grand River Transit, who provide two way fare cards to go to the guests.

First United Church Waterloo
2020 Renewal and Revitalization
What does it mean to be faithful as a people of God in our 21st Century context?
As First United Church Waterloo, what is our central purpose for being together?
To what ministries, dreams and other acts of faith is God calling us at this time?
First United Church Waterloo is initiating a listening and discernment exercise. As part of the first step in this exercise, we’ll listen for how God is calling us as a congregation. We want to pay attention to what it means to be a people of faith in this time. We also want to discern what concrete actions we are being called to take in response to God’s call.
Please join us for this conversation! The Church Board has appointed a Reference Group to work with Betty Pries and Cayla Charles from Credence & Co. (www.credenceandco.com). Shortly, you will receive an invitation to complete a survey – and several randomly selected people from the congregation will be invited to participate in an interview with Credence. And, of course, there will be opportunity for conversation together as a congregation, led by Credence.
