RED DRESS DAY
A GOOD WAY FORWARD:
The Healing of the Seven Generations (H7G) has reached out to churches to share in the observance of Red Dress Day on Thursday, May 5th, “to raise awareness and educate the greater community on the significance of Red Dress Day and missing and murdered Indigenous peoples across Turtle Island.” The day is marked by the practice of hanging empty red dresses to represent the women who should be wearing them.
On Thursday, May 5th, there will be a community walk – from the H7G building at 300 Frederick St to Kitchener City Hall – and a candlelit vigil at the Clocktower in Victoria Park. Watch online for details which will be announced soon RED DRESS DAY 2022 – The Healing of the Seven Generations
We are also encouraged to purchase red t-shirts from the H7G online store at https://h7gshop.square.site/shop/3, with proceeds supporting Ganohkwasra, an Indigenous-run shelter on the Six Nations reserve that supports families healing from assault. H7G have expressed a hope “to see these shirts flooding the streets once again in honour of this event on May 5th.”

FAITH CLIMATE JUSTICE
Faith Climate Justice WR is presenting a letter-writing workshop on May 4th, at 7:00 pm. Learning how to write an effective letter to a government official or newspaper is one way to become involved in justice issues, if you can’t be out marching, holding placards, etc. Communicating with others, including government officials is a central way to communicate our faith-based values and to promote the just society we wish to see in the future.
