REV. HOEUN LEE
October 4, 2026
Dear Members and Friends of First United Church,
After much prayer and discernment, and with a grateful heart, I write to share some important news. I have submitted my resignation as your minister, effective November 30, 2026.
I have accepted a new ministry role with the General Council as Growth and Stewardship Animator for Antler River Watershed Regional Council, beginning December 1, 2026.
This decision has not been made lightly. Serving among you has been one of the most meaningful chapters of my ministry. In this new role, I will support and strengthen both current and emerging communities of faith, and I look forward to bringing what I have learned in ministry with you, with our United Church neighbours in Waterloo, and with other congregations and colleagues into this new work.
As I prepare for this transition, I remain fully committed to our ministry together. Over these next two months, I will continue to walk with you as First United moves through an important season of envisioning. My final Sunday with you will be November 22, when we will gather to give thanks for our time together and mark the ending of our covenant in worship.
I am deeply grateful for the relationships we have built, the challenges we have faced together, the ministry we have shared, and the transforming love of God we have embodied as a community. First United Church will always hold a special place in my heart, and I know God's blessing will go with you into the future.
I give thanks to God for the privilege of walking alongside you on your journey of faith. I trust that the Spirit who has guided us this far will continue to lead you in the ministry ahead.
With deep gratitude and abundant blessings,
Rev. Hoeun Lee
