June 10th marks 100 years since the formation of the United Church of Canada.
To celebrate the centennial Western Ontario Waterways (WOW) Regional Council decided to create a puzzle in the shape of the WOW region with a piece representing each community of faith in the region. Each community of faith had a puzzle piece to provide a representation of their church. Here’s the piece submitted for First United Church.
You will recognize the stained glass window.
St. James was the Presbyterian church and St. Pauls was the Methodist church that joined together in 1925 to become First United.
On the bottom is the Jerusalem cross that is on the outside wall of the Sanctuary.
The overall puzzle will have a legend with it to identify which church belongs to which piece. We are number 82. The puzzle is not yet finished but in the photo below you will find our piece very close to the centre.
Puzzlers will no doubt be intrigued by the shape of puzzle pieces!
