Over the past few months a team from First United has met with a team from Emmanuel United Church to discuss ways we might work together. On Sunday, September 28th we will experience some ways.
While Rev. Hoeun is on leave, Rev. Fred Monteith is with us as part-time supply minister and he will lead worship two Sundays a month for us as well as pastoral care responsibilities for the whole month. For the other two Sundays we will have joint services with Emmanuel led by Rev. Brenda Torries, minister at Emmanuel United Church. The service on Sunday, September 28th will be at First United. It will be followed by the Harvest Lunch, a tradition at First organized by the UCW (United Church Women). We look forward to sharing this lunch with Emmanuel and look forward to the dessert that will be provided by Emmanuel folks. As usual there will be a freewill donation for the lunch.
As we finish our lunch we will have conversations about collaboration, an opportunity to hear from members of both Emmanuel and First in response to some questions that will be posed. We look forward to this opportunity to hear from everyone in both churches. The format will be quite similar to what we at First have experienced in Conversations That Matter in past years. So we look forward to great conversations among members of both churches. As in the past, the conversations will have a time limit. We expect you to be on your way by 1:15 pm.
