100 Years of Faithful Witness: Church History Exhibit Marks Centennial
As part of the Centennial Joint Worship celebration, the halls of First United Church were transformed into a living museum—an exhibition of 100 years of rich history from the four United Churches of Waterloo: Emmanuel, Westminster, Parkminster, and First.
Each congregation presented a vibrant display of photographs, artifacts, documents, and stories that told the tale of their community’s journey through the decades. From vintage choir robes and communion sets to children’s programs, architectural models, and outreach ministries, the exhibits were a powerful reminder of the faith, resilience, and creativity that have shaped our shared story.
Visitors lingered at each table, moved by memories and inspired by the legacy of those who came before. Together, these histories form the mosaic of the United Church’s enduring presence in Waterloo—a church rooted in hope, justice, and love.
We give thanks for the generations who built, nurtured, and sustained these communities of faith, and for the Spirit that continues to guide us into the next century.
