Welcome to First! We’re glad you are here!
Welcome to our guest this morning Adam Cresswell.
Adam Cresswell (he/him) – Executive Director of The Hub
Community Network, one of the largest Youth and Young Adult
ministries in the United Church of Canada
Since growing up in the UCC Adam has been serving young
people in our Church in churches, camps, and his own ministry for
almost 20 years. In 2015 Adam founded "The Hub Community
Network" a grassroots ministry for youth and young adults that lives
to connect young people with the liberating love of Christ and
empower them to build a more just and inclusive world. Adam and
The Hub are convinced that the future of the UCC can be a bright
one if we invest and support tomorrow's church today by building
up our young people in faith, justice, and inclusion. Adam works
with over 70 volunteers at The Hub and directs the work of The
Hub's local chapters that have existed for a decade in cities across
southern Ontario. Adam is excited to connect with UCC members
who want to see the growth of young people in our churches.

YOUTH GROUP
Hello Friends!
Join us for our next meeting on May 14th from 7-8:30 at First
United Church.
Come ready to explore the concept of being a fisher of people,
create your very own fishing net and compete in a fun (fake)
fishing game outdoors depending on the weather!
We look forward to talking about how our May 2nd film
screening outreach project went!
Upcoming Dates: May 28, June 11.
Come as you are! We strive to create a brave space for all of
you by being an explicitly 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusive and
neurodiverse accepting group! We also recognize
that youth group can be intimidating for Indigenous and
racialized youth, and we are committed to building a
welcoming and inclusive group. Please feel free to contact us
at rebecca.w.westminster@gmail.com if you have any
questions.
YOU ARE LOVED. YOU MATTER TO US. EVERYONE IS
WELCOME.
Blessings,
Emma Baker, Bethany McMullen and Rebecca Whiting

MUSIC THERAPY AND PARKINSON’S RESEARCH
Tian Ip, is the Music Director at Listowel Mennonite Church and also
a doctoral researcher at Wilfrid Laurier University.
Recruitment Opportunity:
This study, sponsored by Mitacs and Parkinson’s Society
Southwestern Ontario, aims to investigate the efficacy of using music
therapy to predict the decline of Parkinson’s disease. We will do this
by having the participant play on the drums while Tian Ip plays on the
keyboard. Data is collected digitally and analyzed to identify trends
and patterns. Thus, we need both participants with Parkinson’s and
healthy participants. Participants only need to come in once for about
1-5 hours. No music experience is necessary!
