Happy Thanksgiving on Turtle Island!Reflection from October 8, 2023
Why it matters: The Thanksgiving tradition began with the welcome and hospitality of Indigenous people, but it sadly became colonized throughout history. So, the Thanksgiving season is the perfect time to revisit the Canadian Thanksgiving tradition in terms of decolonization. Decolonizing Thanksgiving matters because as we say every Sunday in our land acknowledgement, we aspire to recognize and honour Indigenous peoples on this land and remember our role in reconciliation.
